Play Time

Took some pictures of Mo playing in our bright and sunny dining room today while I folded laundry. It's times like these I'm actually glad we don't have a dining room table. What great photos.

Ball Play Time
Clickable for bigger view.
I love how the photo is implying that playing (touching the ball) will open up a whole new and colorful world for her.

You can see the rest by clicking the thumbnails to the right here.

I hope you all have a peaceful and relaxing night. I know I am.

I made some bread today to use up the buttermilk from the last bread I made. Omnomnom! It's so good!

What I Should Do vs. What I Want To Do

So, I probably should be knitting or crocheting or folding laundry or doing some marketing research and networking. Instead, I'm watching The Hot Chick on E!, suckin' down a York Peppermint Pattie iced decaf coffee, watching my baby wander around her play yard playing with a blanket and drinking apple juice so fast it makes her cough... and blogging.

I figured I owed you all at least a somewhat subtantial post to let you know what's going on in Pixie world. Here we go!

My Birthday Gifts
I had a birthday over a week ago. These are my gifts. Sunflower necklace and a Joanns gift card for my business from hubby, milk jug ceramic measuring cup set from Kate and Happy Feet Two from Morgana. (Hubby always gets me movies from her for her to watch, because her being entertained truly is a gift!

My Birthday Gifts

The Living Planet Aquarium
We went to The Living Planet Aquarium (thelivingplanet.com/index.html) for my birthday. Morgana had so much fun. The penguins were her favorite. Seeing my baby so excited and having so much fun was the best birthday present ever.

Aqua & Red Baby Barefoot Sandals
I crocheted these baby barefoot sandals today (modeled by the lovely Little Miss) to sell in my Etsy shop. I want to make everything in aqua and red lately. They'll be listed this week, so keep an eye out for them!

Blue Wristwarmers
I started some blue wristwarmers today to sell in my shop as well.

I'm also crocheting a circle jacket for a secret recipient and a baby doll cardigan for myself in Hometown USA in Dallas Grey. This is the picture that I'm following and trying to figure it out on my own:

Hope you all are well. I'm trying to keep up, but it's hard now that I take care of the baby, try to take care of the house and do needlecraft related "work" all the time. Thanks for sticking around. I'll keep trying to keep you updated often!

I bought Little Miss some sandals in silver today. Every girl needs sandals. This is her first pair. I didn't get any before because she was a barefoot baby as she wasn't walking last summer, lol.

Mama Love, Take Three

Mama Love Mitts in Straight Black.
I knit these Mama Love Mitts for my wonderful Mother. Pattern coming to Etsy and Ravelry soon! Everyone around my Mom was getting some of these wrist warmers and I thought she might be feeling left out, so I asked if she wanted some. She said she would actually like to have some, but she asked for a solid color and we landed on black. I think they're very sleek. I hope she loves them. =)

Gel Rocks!

My Real Nails w/ Gel Overlay
These are my real nails with a gel overlay. I did this gel at home. The brand is Harmony Gelish. The application time is an estimated 15 minutes total, that includes nail prep. They are self leveling and cure to a shiny finish with no polish. So, no filing or buffing needed! If you can apply nail polish (without getting it all over your skin, lol) then you can use this gel!

They last quite well with minimal lifting, even less if you don't get it on your skin or cuticles during application. They even last through lots of water exposure and housework!

This gel does a great job of making polish last longer! I like to change my nail polish color often, so I've only gone almost 2 weeks with only miniscule wearing on the tips (that no one would see unless they looked *very* closely) before I changed my polish. So, I'm sure it lasts longer than that. Though, if you like wearing the same color for weeks at a time, you might want to add a colored gel polish to your application.

It also appears to add flexible strength to your natural nails. Most of my nails grow just fine, but my thumb nails always split on the sides, right where the free edge meets the nail bed. But, I haven't had a split since I've been using this gel for a little over a month now!

I spent about $125 for everything I needed to get started and that includes one gel polish color and a mini UV light (which works just as well as the bigger ones, you just can't cure both hands at once). If you're interested in getting a gel polish system for yourself, let me know and I'll let you know what items you need to start and where I know you can find them!

My sweet, sweet friend, Christy made me a homemade pecan pie for my birthday coming up. Are you jealous? You should be. Her pie is heaven on a plate!

First cinnamon toast. =)

She's so cool; wearing her star sunglasses and eating a cheddar crunchy.

Sunday Sweets

Sunday Sweets
I made cake brownie bites with cranberry (as close as I could get to) buttercream.

You know you bake too much when your 14 month old has seen you preparing the treat for the oven, you put her in her play yard in the living room for a moment and then you come back into the living room chewing and she says, "Cookie?!"

More Baby Love

Baby Love Mitts in Pink
I made more Baby Love Mitts. This time for my 3 year old niece, Danika.

I've written a pattern for these that will be in my Etsy shop. I've also done a modified version for women that I call Mama Love Mitts. I want to perfect each pattern before I post them. So, I need to do a couple more test pairs and actually write down what I'm doing. The construction technique (In the round? Flat? Vertical thumb hole? Horizontal?) on every single pair I've made, including child and adult, has been different. I think I've finally decided how I want to do it and will write my patterns accordingly now.

Baby Love Mitts in Pink
She loves them! She didn’t want to take them off to go potty or dunk her cookies in her milk, but we convinced her that she can put them right back on after she washes her hands or when she was done with her cookies. She even had trouble with opening a door knob, but didn’t want to take them off, lol.

The main color yarn is actually a really OLD skein of Red Heart, probably from the 50s or 60s.

We went to Layton Hills Mall yesterday and rented a cart car for Morgana. Best five bucks we've ever spent. She loved it and kept saying "weeee" the whole time.

Boobie Hat

Boobie Hat
As a breastfeeding advocate, I felt obligated to make one of these for Little Miss before she's weaned. It's meant to be worn while nursing so that it looks like you're flashing boob. Haha! Love it!

Little Miss loves to watch explosions on Mythbusters.

She got stickers at sissy's doc appointment simply because a nurse thought she was cute and took pitty on her when she got upset that she couldn't go with the "buhbees" (kids) she saw walking by.
