Great Weekend!

This weekend, we had our monthly sleepover at Nana and Papa's. Morgana and her cousins, Danika and Jordan, painted pots and put their handprints on them for Papa's tomato plants.

Papa fired up the gas campfire and we had s'mores on the patio. That's is my niece, Danika.

First ever s'mores for Mo!

Sunday morning, Mo went out on the back deck to watch Nana pot flowers. Nana's dog, Lexi, decided to join her.

These are the seeds I'm planning to plant this year. I also bought more seeds today. Spaghetti squash, pumpkin and mint.  I hope I get my garden weeded and ready soon, I'm running out of time!  I wanted to buy Mo a strawberry plant, but it was too expensive to fit in the grocery budget. Maybe we can get her one soon though.

Today's flavored water: lemon and mint. Yom!

I also started an infinity scarf for myself while at my Mom's for the weekend, but haven't taken any pictures yet.

Monday 12/10/12

Here's my progress on the Lalaloopsy doll for Mo for Christmas! I'm so excited! I hope I can get it done in time. I had a custom order for my Etsy shop to get done so my customer could have it before Christmas.


Our Friday craft was a paper chain in white and red to resemble a popcorn and cranberry garland. Thanks to GGma (my grandma) for the idea!

I made sweet potatoe fries to go with our sloppy joe dinner Friday night. They were mushier than I expected, but really good!


Morgana likes to make the Lalaloopsy doll legs walk.


We put up the Christmas tree yesterday. Christmas is going to be so fun with Morgana at this age!








And here's the custom order from someone in my Etsy shop. They saw my Baby Love Mitts pattern and asked if I sell the finished mitts. I said I didn't, but would be glad to do a custom order. Here is a shot of the first one done. This size is 10 months old! So tiny!



We also have got all our Christmas shopping done in 24 hours... online, baby. Plus, we only got gifts for us and the kids.

Makin' Stuff

Last night, I made this draped vest from an extra large t-shirt! No sewing required! If you know how to use scissors, you can make this. Seriously, it's that easy. Thrift store with extra large t-shirts, here I come!!! I wore this outfit on mine and hubby's date today... plus a long silver necklace... Little Miss was playing with it when I took this picture. Don't worry, it's just plastic costume jewelry.


I also wore these! I crocheted these spats for my ankle boots today in a matter of about 20 minutes once I figured out how I was going to make them.

Yay For Babies... And Monkeys.

I picked up this reusable pastry bag and piping tips for a total of $6 at Walmart.


And I made this with those tools! It's a gluten free chocolate cake with pudding in the mix, strawberry frosting. I used canned frosting and just added powdered sugar to stiffen it a bit so it would hold it's piped shape. My freind Sarah from knit meeting is expecting her 4th baby in two weeks. We threw her a baby shower at the knit meeting today. My inspiration for the cake came from Nothing Bundt Cakes. I was really pleased with how it turned out and it was a hit! Everyone had seconds (including me) but one person. I plan to make more cakes like this in the future!


Here's the card I made for it. I even bought some jewelry wire to make the cake poke that it's resting in.


Every baby needs a sock monkey and I knit this one for Sarah's little expected angel, Amy.


I totally forgot to get wrapping paper for Sarah's baby shower gift. So, I wrapped it in a receiving blanket I had and made a chenille yarn bow.

Etsy In Progress

My Etsy shop is getting closer to its grand opening! I have my shop policies up, just got my bank account verified for paypal today, so that's all set up. Now, I just have to link my paypal to Etsy and get all my patterns typed!

Baby Wearing Rocks!

Made myself a mei tai kind of carrier using these instructions: furmother.blogspot.com/2006/12/pattern-for-no-sew-sweatpa... Read the instructions very carefully. If not, you could miss something important. You don't wanna mess up a baby carrier as it needs to be safe enough to carry your most precious cargo!





Little Miss isn't used to back carries, so I will need to do it a little bit at a time until she's fully comfortable with it.

***Please be sure to google instructions on wearing a mai tai. Watch lots of videos and read lots of instruction for proper techniques to ensure safety.***

We went to the city library today and they have this head mobile made of little hanging books.


I crocheted button embellishments for our closet curtain. And that's the book I got from the library today called "The No-Cry Sleep Solution". Morgana is currently fully co-sleeping, which is really great, but we would like her to soon be able to get to sleep on her own or at least sleep in her crib. I currently have to sit with her through all her naps to make sure she doesn't fall off the bed and we are getting concerned about her safety with her becoming more mobile.






We had dinner at the best pizza place in downtown Salt Lake City. The Pie Hole. If you're ever in Salt Lake, you must go. I had a slice of potato bacon and of pepper, tomato and spinach.

Teeth, Taco & Tongue

She has two teeth! Have to take the pic of her teeth while she was napping. Otherwise, it's impossible. (Click for larger views.)


Made taco soup in the crock pot for dinner tonight. Left out the onion and green pepper and added green beans.


SNB friend, Sarah, hosted last week's meeting at her house, destashed and gave away some yarn. Now I need to put it away.


I made this closet curtain also from a bedsheet. I'll crochet buttons for the ruffle in aqua.


She learned how to stick out her tongue and now does is constantly.

Going Bananas

A little while ago, Kate asked me to teach her crochet again and then she made this hat!!! I'm so proud and so glad she asked me to teach her again. She even taught herself how to read patterns and do different stitches other than single crochet from the internet. She says she likes crochet better than knit. So, again, I'm glad she asked me to teach her again.

My day today:


The girls had a wrestling match.


I made homemade frosting for some banana cupcakes. I keep buying bananas and not eating them since I stopped working. We've got banana everything in the fridge now.


Morgana helped make cupcakes by playing with a pickle jar lid. She also had two Goober lids.


Then, she passed out after all the cupcake baking... Because helping bake cupcakes by banging jar lids together is hard work.


So, I got some knitting on her blanket done. This is color 4 of 9. Each color needs ten squares.


Here's the cupcakes. The frosting was really super sweet. If anyone has a good buttercream recipe, please let me know.


Then, Morgana and I watched Rio.


And, I made a curtain out of a sheet to close off our master bath from our bedroom as there is only a wall between the two and a sort of hallway connecting them. I want to make one for our closet too. I have a brown sheet in mind for that.

And that was all just in the evening after dinner!
