Wii Are Familii

WARNING: Picture heavy post to follow. (But, if you're anything like me, that won't be a problem. I love having lots of pics to look at while reading a blog.)

So, here I am, on a Sunday afternoon, jammin' out to some Jamiroquai, sipping a coffee drink that I've concocted on the fly. Strong coffee, non-fat powdered milk, Torani raspberry sugar free syrup and a bit of Hershey's chocolate syrup. Mmm! So, let's get started, shall we? You all deserve a good juicy post, since I've been MIA for a while. I hope I still have readers left. Haha. Here we go...




These shamrock pins are easy peasy to crochet and whip up in a jiffy. Just shoved a tiny open safety pin (the head part) through some stitches in the back.

I wanted to make the daughter girl and I some pins for St. Patty's Day, since being in a rush that morning had us making last moment green yarn bracelets before dashing out of the house. I sat down that night and watched a movie with my sis and before I knew it, I had eight of these babies done in less than 15 minutes, easy.

I have already given one to a work friend and another work friend asked for and was given four of these, for her Husband, two children and herself. And yeah, I made these the day of St. Patrick's Day, so I'm a day late and a dollar short, but at least we'll know exactly what we're wearing for green next year! =)

Finally got some pics of That Baby wearing the Plum Pudding booties that I knit for her. Problem is... yep, you guessed it, she's already growing out of them. That's it... no more clothes until she's an adult. From now on she's only getting stuff she can't outgrow for several years... like blankets... and coasters. =P

I'm working on a Tiramisu Baby Blanket for a co-worker who just had a baby. I know, I said I wouldn't be doing blankets for certain people anymore and that I would build up a baby blanket and baby bootie stockpile for just these kind of occasions, but yeah... that hasn't happened. Plus, I just couldn't help myself, I really wanted to make this one. I'm doing a pink body with a brown edging, threaded with pink ribbon.

I celebrated my birthday on the 18th!


Stu sent flowers to my office for my birthday. First time I've ever gotten flowers at work. =) He tried to send flowers our first Valentine's Day, but that didn't work so well. Long story. So, he's been gun shy about trying to send flowers again... but he did. He even picked something with my favorite flower... sunflowers! Thank you, honey!


I came home to this on my computer and presents on my computer desk. Stu gave me slippers, Madagascar & Madagascar 2, he made me some almond bark with sliced almonds and later that week, the pink teri robe he ordered me arrived. Ryn gave me a tiny pillow she made in school and a beta fish that I named Picot.




Stu made me the most fantastic dinner... Honey lemon chicken with almonds, fresh asparagus and dirty beans and rice. It was fan-freakin-tastic! (Can you tell I love almonds? Haha.)

We then went to Stone Cold Creamery after dinner. I had the strawberry blueberry cheesecake with graham cracker crust ice cream. Stu and Ryn had the Brithday Cake Remix.

I got a Joann's gift card from my cousin, Peachy, the following day.

That Baby celebrated her birthday this month too! She's one year old!


That Baby gives me some loves at her 1st birthday party by hugging and nuzzling my leg. She's got her monkey in hand. Man, she's walking all over the place now. How they grow up fast.




I made a ducky cake for Danika to destroy and cupcakes for the guests (to eat, not destroy. =P )

We got her a rolling chimes toy. I thought it would be the perfect toy. Ever since she learned how to crawl, she likes to drag things as she travels, usually her high chair. Then, when she started walking, she drug her foam Winnie the Pooh chair by the ear from one end of the house to the other, grunting and straining the whole way, all the while holding onto only one of my fingers for support. It was hilarious.


She then decided to use the frosting from her birthday cake as paint and to use her cousin, Cameron as a canvas.

I already did a themed coaster for my niece for March. But when I presented it to her, my sister mentioned making a birthday coaster, since my niece's birthday is in March. So, I whipped one up!

We finally broke down and got a Wii, complete with Wii Fit. This console is surprisingly fun. There's definitely something to be said for the interaction required to play. This is the Wii incarnate of me playing golf.

I'm also still pretty busy finding a house, wedding planning, etc. You know the whole "everything we gotta do to get our lives rolling" dance. It's tiring. Le sigh.

Okay, so it's been two weeks... busy, busy, busy. We are now looking for a house to rent in the valley on top of everyday life and wedding planning. So, we get another mostly pics post! Yay!

I crocheted this tiny amigurumi turtle for Ryn last Sunday. I plan to make her a collection of different ami animals from a book Ash gave me for Christmas.

This is a baby blanket for a baby gift stockpile I hope to build. I love the seed stitch border on this, it's so pillowy! I haven't touched this one in a while. I'm trying so hard now to be diligent in exclusively working on one WIP at a time (with minimal distraction from other projects *blush*) and finishing them in the order they were started. I did pretty good with the baby blanket for our first (yet to be had) baby.

The blanket for our (yet to be had) first baby is almost done! It's just waiting for future Daddy to do his few stitches to contribute. We'll probably do that tomorrow.

We saw this Pomeranian riding alongside his owner in his own little sidecar, complete with windscreen. He was even wearing a leather jacket. I love how the back of his sidecar says, "Are we there yet?"

We got a new laundromat in our town...


I love this place, it's new, clean and just plain fun. Ryn and I galloped down this stretch before people starting coming in.

I got to do a lot of knitting in the car Saturday, we went ALL over the place. And I got to use my new Knit Picks Harmony Options interchangable needles! I love them!

I got a tattoo!

Stu and I went for tattoos yesterday...


This is the next morning, just after washing it. (The wrinkles on my skin are from the tape and plastic wrap that was on it.) It's on my hip.

After fixing myself some toast for breakfast, Ryn exclaimed, "Just plain toast? You got a tattoo now, you should be putting hot sauce on it!" LOL♥

It'll prolly turn a little more pink. I think there's still some blood behind it. I bled a lot.

Yeah, it's tiny, about an inch, but I'm a big baby, so it's okay. I'm still really proud of myself. Especially considering that it does hurt like hell and the worst I did was tense every muscle in my body, maybe let out a couple little noises, squeezed Stu's hand really hard and squeezed my eyes closed really tight, unlike the first time girl before me that was squawking the whole time and needed three people for support. Hers was bigger, but still. I even went before Stu. I don't know if that makes me brave, but I just wanted to get it over with.

Stu said he's really proud of me too. He said, "You really went outside the box. I never thought you'd actually get a tattoo." He was the best support while I got mine. Thanks honey! I love you! ♥




Deekow is Stu's main World of Warcraft character and kind of his alter ego. This character has also been a vehicle for gaining fans to Stu's blog and for networking in the game industry. It's a really important part of his life right now.

This is the most awesome tattoo (!) and seriously, I look up to Stu so much for enduring probably 20-30 times more pain than I did. He looked so relaxed through most of it too. Stu already has one tattoo on his back, so he knew what to expect.

The artist said that this was his first World of Warcraft tattoo and only the second that he's seen.

I found this book in our travels yesterday. Stu and I had dropped by Barnes & Noble, he was looking for a Slipknot DVD.

I had seen this book at the book fair at Ryn's school, but didn't have the spending money for it.

I got bootie fever!

These will probably be for Danika. This is my second pair during this "wave".

No other craft/knitting progress to report. Although, I might be doing a little fabric knitting with old shirts today. Sorry, no picture, I took one and then it came up on the computer as a tiny box with the red X. You know the one. I dunno why it did that, very strange, that's never happened before.

Well, we had a good turn out last knitting meeting!

Here's Danika with Michelle. She's not even asleep yet, she's just chillin', then she'll fall asleep.

This is at The SLC Stitchers meeting. People there had been wanting to see the baby. Good thing we brought her this night, all the regulars and a new member showed up. We had five knitters there. It made me SO happy! I think that is the biggest turn out yet!


Aww, cuddly baby. She just woke up after falling asleep on Michelle.

In Other News...

We played a new game called Munchkin today. I won. *snicker* It's a "make fun of role playing games" game. If you get a chance, try it. It takes a little bit to get used to the rules, not long. It's way fun... and funny.

My friend Bruce got married yesterday!!!

Sorry, no pics, didn't think to take any. DOH!

I think we'll start this post off right, with some fiber eye candy...


Just a little wristband for my row counter. I got tired of wearing it like a necklace. I call this project 'Watch' Me Count.


That Baby sure loved her Ring It In Coaster. Yet another pattern published on Ravelry. Free pattern here.


Kari (at work) had told me that she would pay me to make her some booties. I declined. Well, now I feel like making some baby booties. So, I'm doing these ones as a gift for her. I’m doing much better on this pair (this is my 2nd time with this pattern). I’m planning things out much better, like distributing stitches in an even way over established stitches.


Here's my progress on the diagonal knit baby blanket for Stu and I's first (yet to be had). Interesting how the pink/purple pooled much differently from the blue/green yarn. I'm on the down hill now, each row will now get smaller, working toward the corner.

If you didn't know, Stu bought this yarn for me for my 28th birthday with the intention of me using for a blanket for our first baby. It was the most touching gift I've ever received, I cried.


Spaghetti tacos! Ryn made these for dinner one night. They're actually really good! I had seconds. ♥


I can haz donut? I made a hair donut with some socks. I can't put it on in the traditional way by putting the ponytail through, spreading the hair evenly over the donut and then putting an elastic over it and tucking all the ends under the donut. My hair is too thin.

So, I'm trying to just put the ponytail through and pulling the donut almost to the ends of my hair and then rolling it down to my head (like a curler), then spreading the hair evenly. I'm getting better at it. =)


That Baby's standing! Danika has just barely gotten crawling down and she's already moved on to standing without holding onto anything! (Her hair is also long enough for a pony now. Dunno if you can see it in the pic there, but it's so cute. Mom puts one in everyday now.)

Ryn did some babysitting of That Baby for Honors Society Community Service while Stu and I went to the Jazz game last night. We had a fun night. Ryn, on the other hand, wasn't so excited about having the baby come spend the night when it was mentioned. She replied with, "Uh... not after I've just spent all night taking care of her." We all know that taking care of a little one can be tiring. Mom says she did good though.


My Grandma (Dad's Mom) makes these extremely yummilicious cookies and sends some to my parents' every Christmas. I think they are some kind of ginger cookie. I would describe them as light and crispy. So good! I hope that she would be willing to share the recipe with me. ♥


This is the yummiest tea, my favorite right now! Go get some! I also really love Bengal Spice by Celestial Seasonings. If you like chai tea, you'll love Bengal Spice!

Here's my progress on the Scrappy Tuesdays afghan. Wow, can you even see it amongst all that bright tie dye? I was being too lazy to get out my backdrop sheet for the photo.

I'm also making some progress on my diagonal knit baby blanket. I started it SO long ago. I'm really trying to get things finished up, so I can do new stuff and not have anything hibernating.

Well, that's all of my knit/crochet progress since last post. Not a lot, I know, but I really think what's coming next will buy your forgiveness in a heartbeat...


Well, I finally got permission from Marshall to post these pictures of him during our white elephant gift exchange for my office. He picked a gift that had a pink nightie, a Sleeping Beauty DVD and popcorn. Of course... no one stole it from him. What a good sport though, huh?


We played Stu's World of Warcraft boardgame for nearly seven hours on Saturday. It was really fun, I just didn't count on it taking so long, haha. But, up side... we got to spend a lot of time together as a family. ♥

Look at how many pieces this thing has...

Everything from the top of this picture to the bottom is actively used in the game... even all those little tokens on the box lid at the bottom of the picture there... you see them?


Mom got a little rocking horse for Danika. It's so tiny and close to the floor. She loves it... and it makes her feel brave, she stands up on it!



Ryn is now knitting stockingnette, she just learned how to purl!

Ryn knit this skinny scarf on size 50 needles for her grandma. This is her first completed project in stockingnette stitch!


I made these bacon, cheese and green onion tartlets for New Year's Eve. They were nummy!


I ♥ baby Ms... and haven't had them in so long. The pink tube pushed me over the edge in deciding to get these. They were gone in maybe... a minute. Told ya I love them.

And I'll leave you with a current shot of my nails (I had to cut them again, ugh. Dang those few nails that always break!)


Black shorties with glitter. I told Stu these are my Wall-E nails... they look like outer space!

Well, I'm off to figure out a way to turn a small fleece blanket into a house robe with my new craft sewing machine!
